About the Role

Our client is a well-known Australian federal government department responsible for infrastructure, transport, regional development, communication, sport, and the arts. They are currently seeking an experienced Financial Operations Officer at the APS4 level to join their team based in Canberra ACT on a 6 month contract with possibility for extension.

Candidates for this position must be experienced across a range of financial functions, including Accounts Receivable, Travel and Credit Cards, and Accounts Payable. Experience with SAP system is also highly desirable.

The successful candidate will rotate through different areas as needed, providing a fantastic opportunity to gain broad experience across financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

The main duties of the position are across the following areas:

  • Credit Cards:
      • Processing card applications and cancellations.
      • Creating and deleting travel profiles.
      • Performing general credit card administration duties.
  • Accounts Receivable:
      • Creation of Invoices.
      • Receipting of daily transactions.
  • Accounts Payable:
      • Creating payrun proposals.
      • Actioning invoices received.
      • Actioning returned remittances and following up on statements received.
  • For all areas:
    • Managing helpdesk queries.
    • Assisting with other ad-hoc tasks as directed by Team Leaders.

About You

You will be an experienced Financial Operations Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and manage stakeholder inquiries.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate processing.
  • Capacity to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines and adapting positively to change.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and execute instructions effectively.
  • Experience in using SAP and CTM portals would be highly desirable.
